project goal:

to integrate the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) into the system of initial teacher education and continuous professional development in Ukraine through the development of innovative academic courses, professional training programmes, the creation of modern educational resources, and the strengthening of institutional capacities of higher education institutions in line with European standards and the priorities of Ukraine’s post-war recovery.

Project Objectives

1.

To develop a new academic course “Education for Sustainable Development” and integrate sustainability-related modules into existing curricula.

2.

To design and produce innovative teaching and learning materials in the field of Education for Sustainable Development.

3.

To enhance the professional competences of secondary school teachers through the implementation of structured professional development programmes in sustainable development.

4.

To strengthen the professional capacity of academic and administrative staff of higher education institutions through targeted training focused on sustainability-related competences.

5.

To reinforce cooperation between Ukrainian and European educational institutions through partnerships, joint training activities, research collaboration, and study visits.

6.

To promote digital transformation in teacher education through the development and implementation of online courses in Education for Sustainable Development.

7.

To ensure the sustainability and institutional integration of project results within partner universities.

8.

To develop (enhance) and implement university Gender Equality Strategies and organise dedicated seminars for academic and administrative staff.

9.

To establish SDG University Labs as academic platforms for integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into research, education, and innovation activities of universities.

Expected results:

1.

Strengthened institutional capacity of partner universities. Study visits to leading European universities in Poland, the Czech Republic, and Spain will enable Ukrainian partners to adopt best practices in Education for Sustainable Development and curriculum modernisation.

2.

Development of a comprehensive teaching and methodological package for the course “Education for Sustainable Development,” including the creation of relevant online courses.

3.

Design and implementation of professional development programmes for secondary school teachers and higher education lecturers aimed at building sustainability-related competencies.

4.

Establishment of SDG University Labs as innovative hubs where academic staff and students engage in sustainability-oriented research, interdisciplinary cooperation, and practical application of ESD principles.

5.

Development or enhancement of institutional Gender Equality Strategies. Assessment of the state of gender equality at partner universities and alignment of institutional strategies with European standards.
